South Hayward United Methodist Church has a strong tradition of commitment to Filipino ministries.  These include Filipino American Ministries (FAM) and the Christmas Institute.

FAM is a group of churches in the California-Nevada Conference.

The Christmas Institute (CI) is a 5-day Christian retreat which traces its roots from the Philippines.  CI in the United States was first established in Southern California during the early 1980's.  Under the leadership of Pastors and young adults, CI has the goal of bringing Filipino-American youth closer to Christ.  CI in So Cal then branched out to the Bay Area, and in starting in 1986, Filipino-American churches from northern cities like San Francisco, Vallejo, Sunnyvale and Fresno held a Christmas Institute.
