The Family
Emergency Shelter Coalition (FESCO) is a nonprofit organization
comprised of over 30 churches and community members in the Hayward,
Castro Valley, San Lorenzo and San Leandro area, serving homeless
families with food, shelter, clothing, counseling and links to
community resources.
FESCO consists of a 24-bed family shelter, four units
of transitional housing, and a multi-unit community living center.
Initially offering emergency shelter to qualified homeless families,
FESCO also provides counseling in goal setting, money management,
parenting,
and job and housing searches.
As a founding member of the coalition, South Hayward UMC offers its
members opportunities to volunteer at the shelter, as well as
opportunities for fund
raising in the spring Shelter Shuffle or the annual dinner and auction.
